What is Vinyasa yoga?

Vinyasa is a dynamic and energizing yoga path that stems from the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. The word "Vinyasa" comes from Sanskrit and has several translations, one of the most common being "to place in a special way," or in other words, to move with intention throughout the practice.
Unlike Ashtanga, which follows a fixed sequence of asanas (Sanskrit for “postures”), Vinyasa allows you the freedom to explore movement creatively.

In a Vinyasa class, you'll be guided by your breath, seamlessly flowing from one asana to another. This element of smooth transition is why Vinyasa is often called flow yoga.
It’s fast-paced movements that enhance your strength and flexibility and incorporate a variety of balancing postures, and sometimes inversions such as headstands.
